A CENTENARY CELEBRATION OF GOLF HERITAGE

Two different sized limited-edition, large-scale, prints of a major historical golf painting depicting portrait images of many golfers of the era is offered by the artist.

 

Created in 1994 by the acclaimed English portrait artist, Anthony Oakshett, which he titled The Origins of the Ryder Cup, Wentworth, 1926 the painting captures the context of the meeting of American and British golfers from the Golden Age of  Golf.

The prints are to celebrate the centenary of this event.

The original painting is displayed at Wentworth Club.

The prints will be museum quality using twelve pigmented inks (not dyes) on heavy rag paper.

 

Each print is issued with Origins, 1926 from the Gentry Links series that identifies and tells the stories of many of the individuals portrayed. The book uniquely captures the wider historical significance of the maturity of the ‘modern game’ for both the professional and amateur games.

Origins, 1926 also illustrates close-up, head-and-shoulder, portraits of the leading players and several ‘Champion Golfers of the Year’ as well as previously unseen illustrations by the artist of Walter Hagen.
